The minilogue XD is based on the further development of the technology originally employed on minilogue, whose authentic analog sound had a great impact in the Synth world. With 4 voices of polyphony, the minilogue XD synthesis structure consists of: 2VCO + Multi Engine, 1VCF, 2EG, 1VCA, and an LFO, to which are added the characteristic circuits of this instrument such as Wave Shaping for harmonic shaping, Ring & Cross Modulation, Sync between oscillators, two-pole filter, and Drive that adds more body to the signal sent to the filters.
Each parameter has been carefully fine-tuned according to the requests of established musicians. The timbres that can be obtained from this instrument range from warm pad sounds, to typical fat and present analog bass timbres, to solo Lead sounds that are always dynamic and penetrating, covering virtually every genre and repertoire requirement in this way. Of course you can save your own personal sounds in the instrument; there are 500 total memory locations, 200 of which are already preset. Korg essentially combines keyboardists’ favorite features of their monologue, minilogue and Prologue synthesizers to create the minilogue XD.
The most important features of the minilogue are the familiar compact format, 4-voice architecture, multi-voice modes, and arpeggiator (now with a popular latch function). From the Monologue we take the motion step sequencer, and the ability to overwrite the signal going into the filter. From the Prologue we take the digital multi-engine, getting the third voice oscillator and more stereo effects. Synthesists are fans of each of these synths and are ecstatic to see all their favorite functions combined in a single synth.
