Combining classic BOSS octave sounds with the latest tracking technologies, BOSS OC-5 sets a new standard in octave pedal performance. The Vintage mode instantly recreates the legendary OC-2 mono from 1982, while the Poly modaility offers numerous enhancements for playing with maximum extension. And with the addition of an octave-up function, there is now a three-octave extension for creative explorations.
From low, full-bodied mono sounds to one-octave transposed chords and more, OC-5 offers the widest range, best tone quality and playability of any octave pedal to date.
With the power of the latest BOSS real-time processing technologies, OC-5 delivers exceptional timbres and playability for an octave experience of unsurpassed expressiveness. A key feature is the newly developed tracking engine, which delivers precise and accurate performance without any latency.
OC-5 also offers a wider range and greater polyphonic capabilities than previous OC models, covering all your needs in octave effects with a single high-performance pedal.
Introduced in 1982, OC-2 was the first modern octave pedal for guitar and bass. Always loved by musicians around the world, the warm but present sound of this effect fits perfectly into the mix, and its distinctive voice can be heard in many famous songs.
The OC-5’s Vintage mode recreates the iconic mono sound of the OC-2, along with improved response thanks to the new tracking function. There are dedicated level controls for the -1 and -2 octave effects and direct sound, providing quick access to an endless variety of lower octave colors.
OC-5 also offers an evolved version of the Intelligent Poly mode first introduced with the OC-3 Super Octave, allowing full chords to be played with octave effects. The Range knob narrows the effect to the lowest notes on your instrument, perfect for playing octave bass lines along with regular chords and melodies in the higher registers. And with the new tracking enhancements, you can even narrow the octave effect to the lowest note in a chord-just set the Range knob to the “Lowest” value.
Another improvement of the OC-5 is the new octave-up effect, available in both Vintage and Poly modes. Simply turn the dedicated +1 OCT knob to set the desired level of the effect. Use the octave-up effect on its own to simulate unique 12-string sounds and solo timbres, or combine it with the octave-down effects to extend chord voicings and create super-bodied solo timbres.
OC-5 allows you to instantly optimize the performance of its guitar or bass tracking function via a dedicated switch on the pedal. And with the Direct Out jack, it’s easy to send dry and effect sounds to different destinations, such as to two amps on stage and to separate channels of a mixer or audio interface.
