When we look back to the glory days of rock guitar (mid-1960s to mid-1970s), some of the most popular amplifier setups were British Marshalls and Voxes…often with multi-speaker speakers. Musicians such as Tony Iommi, Ritchie Blackmore, Brian May, etc., carved out their distinctive sounds on stage and in the studio with these rigs, and to cope with the overpowering bottom end, they made use of “The Treble Booster.”
Treble boosters add high or higher frequencies to the guitar sound and, depending on how the amp is set up, a bit of much-desired overdrive. As much as companies like Dallas (Rangemaster) and Hornby Skewes (Treble Booster) were solving a low-end problem, they had also created a new sonic palette. Carl decided it was time to reintroduce this sound with the PlexiRanger. And let Carl add a gain channel along with the boost channel for a unique fx pedal.
