With portability and its smaller size, the all-new EVH 5150III 50S EL34 head is the perfect amp for guitarists who want touring sound, arena volume, and Eddie Van Halen performances in a compact format. Three on-the-road-tested channels work for every style: crisp cleans, chunky overdrives, taut distortion, and searing leads, while newly added dual concentric controls allow volume level and gain matching. Optimized to meet Eddie’s touring needs, this 50-watt head offers a full range of sounds. Channel one offers a clean, crystal-clear sound; Channel two has an increased gain for more sustain and is optimized for better mid-bass frequency definition; Channel three also has an improved range for the “Low” control and exudes a liquid gain boost. Channels one and two each have two concentric controls for gain/volume, with shared EQ (bass, mid, treble). Channel three has its own gain, volume and EQ controls (low, mid, high).
All three channels also have global Presence and Resonance controls. The amplifier is also equipped with seven JJ ECC83 preamp tubes, a pair of EL34 output tubes, selectable output impedance (4, 8 and 16 Ohms) and an adjustable bias control. Seductive with textured black vinyl and a double front panel with black striped EVH grille, the 50W head has vintage-style black “chicken head” control knobs, red lamp, dual speaker output jacks, four-button footswitch, effects loop, direct out and molded plastic handle.
