Surface-mount technology is used throughout, using low-tolerance components for high accuracy and repeatable settings for EQ and gain controls. The highly transparent GB30 microphone amplifier (designed by Graham Blyth for the company’s 30th anniversary and also used on the larger LX7II and GB series consoles) provides high-resolution adjustment over a wide 55dB gain range and offers an extraordinary +22dB amplitude via the console. Professional 48-volt phantom power is suitable for condenser microphones of all types.
A unique feature of the signal monitoring is the Peak LED. This uses multipoint signal jacks to control overload in different parts of the channel strip, and the LED lights up brighter as the signal approaches the peak point. For smooth and precise channel control, the EPM has high-quality 60mm faders used on other Soundcraft desks. The monitor output and headphone output work in parallel so artists can still listen on headphones while a technician listens on studio monitors.
