Featuring a never-before-used wood and a series of guitarist-centered design enhancements, the Builder’s Edition 324ce represents Taylor’s enduring marriage of innovative acoustic design with a forward-looking strategy toward a more sustainable future. The star here is Urban Ash, an oak wood from city trees destined for removal from urban environments due to weather or disease damage, public safety issues, disruptive root systems, and simply because they are reaching the end of their life cycle. Instead of allowing this beautiful wood to end its life cycle in a landfill, Taylor reclaimed it for use in the back and sides of these 324ce, which offers a tonal response similar to high-end mahogany: dry and woody, with a strong, fundamental response that produces clear notes largely devoid of overtones.
Combined with a mahogany top, this Grand Auditorium produces a crisp midrange and treble presence over a rich low end that will satisfy both rhythm and fingertyle guitarists. The V-Class bracing offers its distinctive mix of power and resonance, emphasizing this guitar’s robust midrange and producing a more tuneful sound. In keeping with the Builder Edition philosophy, this 324ce features a number of enhancements designed to provide the best playing experience, including beveled body and fretboard edges, beveled neck binding with a cutaway shoulder, and a Curve Wing bridge.
