The Friedman IR-X dual-channel tube preamplifier is an entire Friedman rig in a compact pedalboard-friendly format. Powered by two high-voltage 12AX7 preamp tubes, each channel offers the harmonic richness and touch response of Dave Friedman’s best designs. The DSP IR cabinet/power amplifier simulation sends studio-quality miked sound to your DAW or Front-of-House. IRX provides easy-to-use controls without complex menus and 100-page manuals.
IR-X does not simulate a Friedman tube preamplifier. It is one. While many available preamplifier pedals use tubes to “warm up” their digital or solid-state circuitry, two warm and bright 12AX7 preamp tubes, operating at the correct high voltage, are the beating heart of this pedal. A true preamp in every sense of the word, IR-X offers all the sound, response, gain characteristics, and harmonic complexity you expect from a Friedman design.
IR-X boasts two fully independent footswitchable channels. Like Friedman’s famous flagship amps, channel one takes your sound from bluesy, clean British-voiced sounds to a muscular Plexi-style roar. Activate channel two for Friedman’s signature high-gain sound and all the percussive force, note clarity, and sustain that comes with it.
