The Grandmother is a soundscape that recalls Moog’s modular roots, where synthesis is not just the end result, but the journey of discovery and experimentation. Although capable of extremely complex sounds and modulations, the Grandmother’s semi-modular design requires no patching whatsoever, ensuring that humans of all skill levels can easily explore and experience the joys and magic of analog synthesis. Inspired by the classic Moog modular synthesizers that preceded it, the Grandmother’s sound engine, modulation, and spring reverb are completely analog, giving rise to a sound vocabulary of immeasurable beauty and power. In addition, the Grandmother also features an easy-to-use arpeggiator and sequencer for added fun and programmable syncopation. Although not required, creative patching and exploration are the keys to discovering exciting new relationships between modules and unlocking the truly infinite expanse of auditory inspiration offered by the Grandmother. Patches can also be used to override internal connections, allowing each section to function exactly as it would as a standalone module. In addition to its standalone function, the Grandmother is also an ideal analog audio processor for external sound sources and a powerful keyboard front-end for expanding a Mother-32, DFAM, or Eurorack modular system.
