The ABM 500 EVO III is a 575W RMS bass head designed to satisfy both bass purists and technology enthusiasts. Three simple rotary tone controls provide 20dB of cut/boost at 60Hz, 660Hz, and 5kHz, and are complemented by two additional pairs of sliders that give 15dB of cut/boost at 180Hz, 340Hz, 1.3kHz, and 2.6kHz. The EQ can be switched in/out via a footswitch, allowing bassists to go from a flat fretless sound to an amplified sound via EQ adjustment. A single input is switchable for passive and active instruments, with a mix of solid-state and dual triode preamp stages that can be preset and selected by foot, providing access to a wide range of clean, warm, and overdriven sounds. Also controllable via foot switch is the integrated compressor and Ashdown’s powerful sub-harmonic generator, which accurately tracks the main signal and reproduces it an octave lower. A sub-harmonic level control allows the bassist to add just the right amount of low-end reinforcement.
