The sleek alder body shape is a direct descendant of the original Charvel San Dimas basses from the late 1970s, with a deeper cutaway that gave adventurous bassists easy access to the upper register.
The Charvel speed bolt-on super-thin maple neck is made in the original style, with a beautiful caramel finish, graphite reinforcement, and heel-mounted truss rod wheel for easy adjustment. The caramelized maple fingerboard with a 12“-16” compound radius flattens gradually from the nut to the heel for fast, smooth playing and features rounded edges, 20 jumbo frets, and Luminlay side dots.
And like the originals, the Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass PJ IV features the powerful voice of DiMarzio pickups: a Model J at the bridge for an all-around punch and a Model P in the middle for a warm, fat sound with a growling midrange when pushed. Versatile electronics include a three-band active EQ, pickup blend control, and a master volume control with push/pull selector. The push/pull selector eliminates the risk of losing sound due to a dead battery, as a quick press of the volume knob bypasses the active EQ circuit and regains bass sound without the use of the battery.
