Before distorting the sound, the Darkglass Microtubes X7 bass preamp splits the signal into two and filters them both. A variable low-pass filter lets you choose how much of the signal will remain clean and punchy, while a high-pass filter determines how much sound will be sent through the drive circuit. Independent level controls for each signal path allow you to balance each to your liking.
