The Peavey HP 2 is built with cutting-edge technology but maintaining traditional craftsmanship methods while incorporating professional-quality innovations and various customizations. When a guitar bears the initials of Peavey’s founder and CEO, Hartley Peavey, musicians already know they can count on an iconic design with a unique style. While the aesthetics are classic, the HP 2 undoubtedly stands out with its flared top and asymmetrical off-center body design that offers comfort, balance, and maximum playability. The top is maple while the back is basswood.
Peavey selected these hardwoods not only for their natural beauty and weight, but also for their specific tonal qualities. The cream-colored binding further accentuates and highlights the body shapes. With a select and exclusive birdseye maple neck and fingerboard, guitarists will find unparalleled stability and sensitivity. Double graphite bracing and an adjustable, easily accessible steel truss rod provide additional strength, as does the bolt-on neck’s contoured base construction.
The oil-finished fingerboard is machined from the same piece of wood as the one-piece neck, maintaining uniform color and grain. The low tension lamination also adds greater stability.
The HP 2 has a 25.5″ scale, 22 jumbo frets, and a 15″ fingerboard radius. The 10-degree backward-sloping headstock has a 3+3 Schaller tuning set-up with pearl knobs. Chrome hardware finishes complement the extraordinary design of this part. The HP 2’s construction and electronics work in perfect harmony. Two custom Peavey humbucker pickups provide optimum output and response. They are made using a two-stage wax dipping process, which provides ultra-low noise operation and high resistance to microphonic feedback.
The pickups are mounted directly on the body, further reducing feedback at high volume levels and improving response. A Switchcraft 3-way toggle switch allows pickup selection. A Peavey/Floyd Rose licensed double-locking tremolo completes the features of this outstanding guitar. To top it off, the HP 2 features two push-pull pots for volume and tone, with the ability to split the pickups, putting an incredible range of sounds at your disposal.
