Strymon’s goal is to unleash a new world of harmonically rich and incredibly versatile overdrive sounds of tube inspiration and character. The goal was not to simply build yet another distortionist but rather to bring a whole new approach to the world of distorted sounds. The Riverside’s cascading gain stages create harmonically rich, and immensely musical and natural sounds, from crystal-clear clean to extreme distortion, going all the ways in between. Analog input and output sections (JFETs), ensure that the Riverside responds to the guitar with uncompromising dynamics and feel.
The extreme precision of the custom DSP, on the other hand, generates dynamic complexity and pleasing harmonics at every stage, allowing the amplifier to respond best at any gain level. The Riverside takes your amplifier to a whole new dimension! The Riverside’s continuously variable circuitry dynamically controls multiple parameters within the pedal so that the Sweet Spot is achieved whatever the gain setting.
As you turn the Drive knob, the Riverside makes continuous adjustments, fine-tuning the circuit to achieve the best possible sound. There are also two operating modes that can be easily combined via two mini switches on the front panel: Low Gain/Hi Gain and Normal /Mid Push. All this results in an incredibly versatile overdrive pedal that is equally capable of delivering crystal-clear clean sounds, light overdrive, high-gain distortion, and extreme saturation.
