The new iRing uses hand gestures to control parameters of effects and other items in your music performances by simply moving your hands in front of your device.

iRing uses patented advanced image-recognition, motion control and precise geometric positioning technology to determine the exact position of the wearable rings, recognizing and tracking the dot patterns printed on iRing allowing you to control various app parameters, without touching your device.

Making music and creating killer real time grooves and effects for nonstop dance music and grooves is now easy and as simple as moving your hands… something you probably already do. So get the groove going and take control with your hands and iRing.

The ABCs of XYZ

Okay, so how does this thing work? iRing is a simple double sided ring that fits comfortably between your fingers. On one side there is a linear pattern of three dots, on the other a triangular pattern.

Position and gestures

Not only the iRing position is detected but several other gesture recognition are also implemented. Showing/hiding the rings, rotating them clockwise and counterclocwise, approaching the device quickly or exiting the camera field view, can also be detected by the apps, further enhancing the level of touchless control you can do with iRing.

Music Judo

For DJs or music lovers, iRing can be used to create real-time, non-stop dance grooves and scores with the included iRing Music Maker app. Imagine DJ’ing a party and using your hand movements to create the mood and groove! With iRing and iRing Music Maker, you can do just that.

iRing Music Maker is very similar to our popular GrooveMaker 2 app that allows you to create non-stop grooves and complete compositions utilizing music “loops” that always sound good together. Music Maker is based upon the same concept, but is designed from the ground up to be used with iRing… switch loops, change effects and create the mood all without touching your screen. Plus iRing Music Maker includes also two lead and bass synths with respective pattern players, that can be independently operated for hours of error-free musical improvisation, even without any previous musical knowledge. You have to hear it to believe it, but trust us, this is the future of mobile music making control. For DJs and beat-makers iRing is also compatible with new versions of our popular apps for musicians: GrooveMaker 2 and DJ Rig, giving you a whole new approach to your music performances.

The future of Effects and MIDI control: iRing FX/Controller App

For all musicians the free iRing FX/Controller app will bring you in the world of fully customizable futuristic touchless control. iRing FX/Controller is 2 apps in 1: a real time audio processing effects and also a MIDI controller, with fully assignable parameters. You can use it as 21st century touchless outboard effects, or configure it to send Control Change, Notes, Program Change, Pitch Wheel, After Touch, MIDI System Realtime, MMC (Midi Machine Control), controlled by the iRing, to other apps running in background.

As an effect iRing FX/Controller works with Audiobus and Inter-App Audio compatible apps, so you can use it to add stunning and brilliant audio effects into your favorite audio apps, and control them with your iRing. With iRing FX/Controller, you get up to 16 high quality creative DJ effects. Choose from standard effects like filter, delay, compression, reverb and wah, or add a new level of audio creativity with our suite of wacky DJ effects like stutter, Fuzzy, Crush, Twist, Brake, Spin and Tail.

As a MIDI controller you can assign each of the 3 axis movements that can be detected for each of the 2 rings, to a specific MIDI control change or notes playing or any other MIDI messages that FX/Controller can send. The MIDI parameter is than routed to the app that you want to conrtol via Virtual MIDI. This way you can control up to 6 MIDI parameters simultaneously using two hands touchless control, and even more using the recognized gestures.

iRing FX/Controller can be operated with teh front facing camera up to 70cm (2.29′), and teh rear camera for longer distance of up to 150cm (4.92′).

And if you are a Mac user you can also easily route this MIDI messages from your mobile device to your Mac, dramatically expanding the range of music application that you can control with iRing.

Each iRIng packaging includes 2 double-sided rings, and free downloadable apps from the App Store™ that are enabled to work with iRing by a simple registration.

For other music app developers that want to integrate iRing™ technology directly into their app we do have an SDK and a free licensing program that allows to extend the control of their apps beyond the traditional boundary of phiysical touch control, and unleash a whole new world of possibiities.
