A new standard in piano stages – the CP series. In 1976 Yamaha launched the first CP series stage piano. These “electric” models instantly became classics due to their authentic sound and comfort in live performance. Thirty years later, Yamaha is celebrating these keyboards by showcasing the latest addition to the CP series. Building on long tradition and experience, these instruments offer live musicians all the sound and expressiveness of a grand piano with the ease of transport and versatility of a modern digital instrument. Advanced Graded Hammer Effect (GHE) mechanics give the keys genuine resistance that increases from the highest to the lowest registers – just like a real acoustic piano. This means you can hit mighty notes with your left hand and dance with the fingers of your right hand on higher notes. In creating the authentic sound of the CP series, yamaha used meticulously recorded stereo samples from top-quality instruments with varying intensities, encapsulating details such as string resonance, Stereo Sustain and even Key-Off samples that capture the muffling effect made by the felt resting on the piano strings – so you get the most authentic sound and nuanced acoustic piano voices. CP stage pianos are also control keyboards that let you manage your entire music system. For example, use and control external sound generators (such as MOTIF-RACK ES), assign different voices to different keyboard sections, and create sounds with multi-layered textures. Two instrument zones on the CP33 with panel-mounted sliders let you easily adjust the level of each instrument as you play. You can also freely re-assign sliders and wheels to control other sound characteristics of your system, such as attack, decay, brightness, and filter cutoff.
