In introducing the AZ series, the goal was not simply to create a new model, but to sculpt a perfect guitar that fostered the potential of this modern “third phase” while maintaining traditional elements. Although Ibanez is considered a modern brand, it has decades of experience and a history devoted to innovation. The AZ series brings together all of these characteristic and well-trodden elements: the comdo oval neck and asymmetrical but well-balanced body shape, a new tremolo bridge, and new pickups developed in collaboration with Seymour Duncan. All these details make the AZ series move the now known boundaries of comfort and sound even further. From A to Z, no aspect of this guitar has been underestimated. The Dyna-MIX 10 switch offers ten different sound combinations, while the Power Tap enables a truly realistic “single coil” sound despite the 2-humbucker configuration. The T1502 bridge, developed in collaboration with Gotoh, features steel saddles for faster response and better articulation. The 10.5mm interchord spacing allows for easier transitions and the use of techniques such as string skipping and hybrid picking.
