Nord Piano 5 represents the latest generation of Nord’s Stage pianos thanks to advanced proprietary technology that introduces important implementations such as: a dual sound generator for the Piano and Sample Synth sections, doubling of Ram memory, a Key bed with triple sensor and Virtual Hammer Action Technology; elements that place this instrument at the top of its class.
Nord Piano 5 is already equipped with 9 different Grand Piano, 9 Vertical, 10 Electric Pianos, Clavinet, Digital Pianos plus Marimba and Vibraphone. All sourced and carefully selected from the Nord Piano Library.
Each Piano and Sample Synth section can accommodate two independent Layers, these can be used simultaneously in a wide variety of Split and Layer combinations, processed by the versatile effects section and stored for immediate recall.
Nord’s unique Virtual Hammer Action technology and the movement of the physical hammers in the Key Bed offer a dynamic response and tactile feel of great realism, allowing the musician superior control and expressiveness.
The Piano section now has two sound generators that can be used simultaneously in Layer or Split. It is possible, for example, to superimpose an upright piano on an electric piano, or split the keyboard by playing with two different acoustic pianos, or all other possible combinations. All factory sounds have been carefully selected according to their character from the renowned Nord Piano Library a high-level musical resource, available free of charge to all users, updated regularly with sounds of unique character.
Like all Nord keyboards, Piano 5 can also be reconfigured to suit personal needs using the Sound Manager, a handy software program that is simple and intuitive to use.
The Advanced String Resonance function reproduces the complex sympathetic resonance interaction between acoustic piano strings that occurs when the damper pedal is pressed and all dampers are raised. Through the Nord Triple Pedal it is possible to enable the Pedal Noise function that simulates under dynamic control the characteristic sound produced by the release of the dampers.
Two sounds can also be superimposed on the Sample Synth section at the same time, while the memory area has also been doubled to accommodate an even larger and more detailed sound database.
This area of the instrument arrives already stocked with high-quality, carefully selected sounds from the Nord Sample Library, including legendary Mellotron and Chamberlin timbres, samples from Symphobia and Swing, and libraries from ProjectSAM. This section, too, can be configured according to personal needs with the Nord Sound Manager. It is also possible to import personal Sample using the convenient free Nord Sample Editor software (Win/Mac). The Sample/Synth section also has some basic but essential sound editing controls, such as Attack, Decay/Release, and Dynamic Response.
New Unison functions have been implemented, allowing the production of very rich and dynamic Ensemble sounds, and the Tru-Vibrato function that realistically simulates the vibrato characteristics produced by real instruments such as Woodwind, Brass, and Strings.
All effects in the Effects section, in Nord tradition, are accessible assignable to each Layer and editable directly on the panel, with the distinctive quality due to the physical modeling of renowned Stomp Box, Ampli, and Vintage effects.
The effects section of Nord Piano 5 includes Tremolo, Phaser, Chorus, Pan, Wah, RM, Flanger, Vibe, EQ, Delay, and Reverb. The latter has 5 different environments such as Booth, Room, Stage, Hall and Cathedral, Bright & Dark modes that change treble response, while Chorale mode adds interesting modulation.
