Akai Professional’s new MPK2 series of pad-based MIDI controllers aims to meet the needs of DJs, producers and live performers in general, from musicians to VJs and light jockeys. Based on user feedback, Akai Pro designed these models compatible with PC computers, Apple and iOS devices, which are slimmer following the line recently adopted by the revamped APC series.

All three, MPD218, MPD226 and MPD232 are equipped with 16 thick pads and very sensitive to velocity and aftertouch to satisfy the most demanding finger drumming enthusiasts, with red backlighting in the first one, user-configurable multicolor RGB in the other two. MPD226 and MPD232 in addition to the USB connection are equipped with MIDI IN and MIDI OUT ports on mini jack connectors to which you can connect the DIN adapters supplied and useful for connecting with traditional hardware instruments: analog synths, expanders, keyboards, grooveboxes, samplers, etc..

There is a rich set of physical controls, faders and/or rotary potentiometers, all configurable on multiple banks to allow the control of many parameters of your software passing from one bank to another. The functions derived from the MPC series are also available, from the Note Repeat with programmable swing to the Full Level that cancels the velocity response if necessary. The programming of MIDI messages sent by each physical control (pads, potentiometers, faders, etc..) is possible through a dedicated software editor and, only in the models MPD226 and MPD232, in an extremely intuitive way directly from the controller itself through the Edit function activated by the homonymous button. The MPD2 series controllers are powered directly via USB, so no external power supply is required.
