Zoom B3 is Zoom’s new unit for bassists that combines all the features of a stompbox with the versatility of a multi-effects processor and the potential of an audio interface. It has 3 large LCDs and 3 footswitches to select up to 3 effects and amp simulations simultaneously. All parameters are controllable in real time. Zoom B3 uses a new tube simulation technology, based on a sigmoid curve that reproduces the typical waveform generated by tubes, and offers simulations of as many as 12 different bass amp models that can be combined with 12 cabinet models to achieve a realistic sound. There is no shortage of Looper function (40 seconds of recording and overdubbing), a built-in Drum Machine (40 rhythmic patterns with TAP Tempo function) and, of course, 100 presets with “Artist Signature” sounds, including as many as 30 sounds personally created by modern bass icons such as Victor Wooten, virtuoso jazz-fusion bassist, Frank Bello (Antrax) and David Ellefson (Megadeth). Then again, there’s the built-in tuner, balanced XLR output use D.I. (allowing you to connect directly to your mixer without going through a D.I. box), audio interface function for hard disk recording (Steinberg Sequel LE software included), low noise (thanks to ZNR’s patented Zoom Noise Reduction system), Edit&Share software for Mac and PC (available for free on Zoom’s official website) to download and share audio patches.
