The Martin D-28 Reimagined is an acoustic guitar that stands out for its innovative details. After nearly a century at the top—the quintessential instrument of musical legends such as Hank Williams, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and many others—the legendary D-28 has been lovingly and artfully reimagined.
“The post-WWII D-28 looked slightly different from its predecessor and became the centerpiece of the folk and folk-rock movements at their peak in the 1950s and 1960s,” says Chris Martin, president and CEO of Martin Guitar. “We took the best features of the D-28 from my grandfather’s era and my father’s era.”
The new D-28 combines the guitar’s rich history with Martin’s latest and most acclaimed innovations. The 184-year-old guitar maker has combined vintage features—including open-gear tuners, an aged finish, distinctive antique white accents, and a tortoiseshell-style pickguard—with a new neck profile to offer D-28 enthusiasts a modern feel and comfortable playability. Martin has also added a forward-shifted bracing pattern to enhance the top’s resonance.
